He got his start playing guitar in 1946, but was said to have switched to the ballad type song and sang a lusty voice and a dimpled He was getting attention first as a songwriter who had his compositions being recorded by others. One such tune, Married By the Bible, Divorced By The Law was one he collaborated with with Neva Starns and Pee Wee Truehitt and was recorded by Hank Snow and also included in one Hank s song folios.
