Giant deep sea isopod swims away
We found this little guy hanging out on the sea floor while conducting a video survey of the abyssal plain near Montserrat. Bathynomus are the giant deepsea relatives of the pillbug (woodlouse, rolypoly). The two red dots are from lasers mounted on the ROV and are 10 cm apart.
