BA 609 Tilt Rotor tests at Ulrichen, Switzerland

In September 2009, a no longer operational Swiss military airfield was used for tests of the BA609 at higher altitudes. This lengthy video shows ground checks and finally take off. The somewhat unreal impression when the airplane takes off is due to an optical illusion. The rotors seem to slow down when the real speed in the opposite direction actually increases.
