Shot of the sun setting over the sea as we speed along on the ship. M, S of the Mother and Daughter with another woman in an ironing room; they press their dresses and petticoats. M, Ss of the daughter having her hair done in a hairdressing salon on the ship. We learn from the commentary that it s her 17th birthday as we see the family (plus a new blondhaired boyfriend ) drinking champagne in the restaurant and giving her gifts: a string of pearls and the decorated box from the ship s shop (Son has left the price on the bottom of the box). Various shots in the ship s ballroom; lots of couples dancing in evening wear; balloons are released from a net just below the ceiling and people struggle to burst them.
