Bach WTC II Prelude and fugue no. 12 in F minor BWV 881 Schornsheim, Netherlands Bach Society
An expression of the deepest, sweetest feelings of sorrow. This is how composer Johann Friedrich Reichardt described this twelfth prelude and fugue from the Wohltemperirte Clavier II in 1782. A prelude and fugue where Bach elegantly combines old and new ideas. Baroque and galant style: a complex web of voices ánd sighing singable melodies all in one. We recorded Bachs first book of the Wohltemperirte Clavier at the homes of 24 different musicians. For the second book, performed in its entirety by Christine Schornsheim, we chose 12 very different locations in Utrecht, to celebrate the 900th anniversary of our home city. Recorded for the project All of Bach on 23 September 2022 at the Metaal Kathedraal, Utrecht, the Netherlands.
