Bringing Up Father Jiggs Has Run Away (1927) Norwegian animated advert ( English subtitles)
The animated advert Fiinbeck er rømt (Jiggs Has Run Away) was produced for the Norwegian tobacco brand Tiedemanns Tobacco in 1927. Interestingly enough, it uses Jiggs and Maggie from Geo McManus famous comic strip Bringing Up Father (in Norwegian, Fiinbeck og Fia ) to tell its story. The characters were wellknown in Norway by this point, with the comic strip having appeared weekly in the family magazine Hjemmet since 1920. This advert was produced by Ottar Gladtvet and was most likely directed and animated by Swedish cartoon pioneer Victor Bergdahl (Captain Grogg), as the elaborate mix of cutout and drawn animation here matches that of contemporary Swedish ads done by Bergdahl. Sourced from the Bluray compilation Norwegian Animation Collection (1913 2013) (aka Animert i 100 år Norsk animasjonsfilm 19132013): Den animerte reklamefilmen Fiinbeck er r, 24
