During the Second World War as the war turned against the German Army, the Soviet Red Army advanced throughout German lands with brutality and speed. The Red Army soldiers became known for being horrific with committing many war crimes, including many of these being directed towards women. As the Soviet Union had been invaded by Germany years before, the Germans had committed many war crimes and assaults too, and with this the Soviets believed in retribution. But during the Battle of Berlin, the final battle of the Second World War in Europe, the Red Army committed horrific war crimes. It s believed that 100, 000 women were subject to horrific ordeals at the hands of Soviet soldiers and around 20, 000 women it is believed died because of their treatment.
