Best of Sylvie Guillem
Sylvie Guillem studied at the Paris Opéra Ballet from 1977 to 1980 and in 1981, at age 16, entered the companys corps de ballet. Nureyev gave Guillem additional opportunities by dancing solo and principal roles in his stagings of classic ballets and newer works by contemporary choreographers, such as George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, William Forsythe, and Roland Petit. In December 1984, when she was 19 years old, Guillem was promoted to étoile, becoming the youngest star in the Paris Opéra Ballet since the companys founding in 1661
