Window Cleaning (1962)
London and Norwich, Norfolk. M, S of a woman sitting on a window sill cleaning her windows in a suburban street. M, S man, with a waist belt and rope cleaning windows on the outside of a high rise building, Bucklersbury House. St Paul s can be seen in the background. He goes inside at another building in Fleet Street and cleans the window from inside. He has Westminster on his white overalls. From ground level we pan up to two men cleaning windows from a cradle high up on the Watney s building in Palace Street. At an Essex power station, the Belvedere Electricity Power Station, a spider man uses a bosun s chair, strung from the top of the building to clean the all wok for the Westminster Cleaning Company. In Norwich, a man has bought a fire engine to turn into a window cleaning cradle. The giant ladders can be raised to reach tall blocks. The engine has been painted yellow and we see the 140 foot power operated ladder being raised. There is shot looking down the ladder from the top.
