Nobel prize winner Alexievich: Belarusians scared of what happened in Ukraine and Syria
Ukraine native and Belarusian author Svetlana Alexievich won the Nobel Prize for Literature on October 8 for her portrayal of the harshness of life in the Soviet Union and in her first public response both praised her country and lamented that the path is still long to freedom. Walking out of her home in an apartment block in Minsk, Alexievich was greeted by cheers and applause before she addressed media. She was asked what her expectations were for the upcoming socalled elections in Belarus. Check out
