Combines documentary footage shot by Pontecorvo and his son during a 1992 visit to Algiers with an interview Pontecorvo made for Italian television the same year, shortly after President Mohammed Boudiaf s assassination. Considers what people s lives are like thirty years on from independence, the economic problems faced by Algeria, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, and the government s decision to cancel the second round of elections after the Islamic Salvation Front did well in the polls.
