Eye Lands Myron Ort, 1970
A film produced in Regular 8mm around 1970. At the time this film was very much praised by Stan Brakhage who asked me for a print and urged me to never put a sound track with it. We traded for more of his own silent 8mm Songs. Brakhage coined the term and concept of The Silent Sound Sense which he discussed in his book Metaphors of Vision. At the end there is a portrait of Meher Baba utilizing experimental optical printing which in this case was achieved by refilming off a throughscreen. Incidentally the flicker effects were made possible by the pioneering technique of shooting double 8mm in a 16mm camera before slitting. Several 16mm loops were refilmed onto 8mm in multiple incamera superimpositions.
