Panning L, S of crowded sea front. Lots of people sit on edge of promenade and on beach, watching the antics in the sea. M, S of the people in fancy dress and the camera. They hold fake cutlasses and pirate flags, the dance about and wave. Intertitle reads: At Lowestoft King Carnival finds it hard to judge the prettiest ankles. M, S of a row of young women hidding behind a long sheet, all we can see are their feet and the top of their hats. Two men both in comical period costume, one in a crown, walk down the line inspecting the women s ankles and clowning about. Competition appears to take place on pier. Intertitle reads: .
