Boney M Rasputin Yamaha Genos Roland G70 by Rico Rasputin is a 1978 euro disco hit single by the Germanybased pop and euro disco group Boney M. , the second from their album Nightflight to Venus. With a tune resembling the second half of the Turkish folk song Kâtibim, it is a semibiographical song about Grigori Rasputin, a friend and advisor of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his family during the early 20th century. The song variously sensationalizes Rasputin as a playboy, mystical healer, and political manipulator. Boney M. was an EuroCaribbean vocal group created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the group s official lineup were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell, a performing artist from Aruba.
