Ocean Dream Making Process, Mermaid Clay Sculpture

This is a collaboration piece with my artist friend Dan Lam. Check out her work After our first collab in 2017, we talked about doing another one. But we were both busy in 2018 so we postpone it to this year. It s been a longgg process. Dan sent me her piece back in August. I started the making process in midOctober and just finished it a few days ago. When I saw Dan s work in person, I had a vision of the mermaid resting her arms on the drippy pink coral, but I couldn t quite figure out how to execute the idea. When I finished sculpting the mermaid, I came up with the concept of using waves to support her tail. It turned out exactly like how I imagined (ugh I wanna cry) I put a lot of effort into perfecting each little detail, from the body to the waves.
