Bach s original is 35 bars. The earliest setting was in C major, for 6part chorus, organ, piano and orchestra (Méditation, CG 89), or perhaps the same for voice and piano (CG 89c), with a French text by Lamartine. Gounod expended the work into its present form along with the Latin text setting the same year. As noted in Wikipedia, it s not to be confused with his 7 other settings of the same Latin text for various vocal and choral forces, including one based on a different Bach original (BWV 999).
