We fly to Antarctica Dunedin ( NZDN) to Mc Murdo Station ( NZFX), Skytraders A319, X plane 11
This time we go for an adventure From Dunedin we are going to fly to McMurdo station in Antarctica, landing in Phoenix field (NZFX) just close to the McMurdo station and Scott base. We use the Skytraders VHVHD Airbus A319 a plane that flies for the Australian Goverment and frequently makes trips to Antarctica. We depart in the morning from Dunedin (NZDN) aiming to land at midday at Phoenix field when the conditions are favorable. The flight takes a total of 4 hours and 40 minutes, you can skip the cruise part of course and just enjoy the departure and landing. Landing is difficult because the ice is really slippery and XP renders the effect quite effectively if you touch the brakes or you are not well aligned when landing the plane is probably going to skid off the runway. After taxiing you can also see how the plane takes a lot of time to go from just 40kts to a full stop. Tomorrow we ll be flying a longer leg from McMurdo to Ushuahia in the South of Argentina.
