A young Giancarlo Fisichella takes his Minardi around the Imola circuit during qualifying for the 1996 San Marino Grand Prix, his third Formula 1 race. He ultimately improved his time by 0. 7 seconds from this run to qualify in nineteenth place on the grid (despite losing a wing mirror and his dashboard display), four tenths behind Pedro Lamy but ahead of Ricardo Rosset s Footwork and the two Fortis. He retired from the race after 30 laps when his engine cut out without warning.
