Ran Slavin, Montefiore Microphone
Montefiori neighborhood in Tel Aviv that was erected in the field of the first orchard in Israel that was planted and cared for by jews. Over the years it transformed and today it is home to mainly car garages, night clubs, studios and also gambling and prostitution houses. My proposal was to construct an atmosphere of a thriller film from the footage i would shoot of empty Montifiori streets at night. It was the neighborhood of my prior studio. Most of the drama was to happen in sound. A nocturnal drama of emptyness, white noise, or micro noise, depends how you define it. I tried to pick up micro sounds and to hear beyond the range of human ear with a sensitive condensor microphone. To find hidden stories with sound. The amount of cuts in the film aimed to amount to the number of streets within the region. Curated by Emmanuel Witzthum for Ultrasound Festival at Tmuna Theatre Tel Aviv
