Listen back: Trump back in DC court for presidential immunity hearing
Donald Trump is appearing in court as his legal team argues he is shielded from election subversion charges by presidential immunity. Four criminal counts have been brought against Mr Trump by special prosecutor Jack Smith for allegedly trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. However, the case, which is scheduled to continue in March, is on hold as the appeal is heard in Washington D. C. Judge Tanya Chutkan, the presiding judge, has dismissed the former presidents claim, saying that his time in office does not confer a divine right of kings. Mr Trump appealed the ruling and his lawyers successfully resisted Mr Smiths attempts to expedite the appeal straight to the Supreme Court.
