Train Derailment Near Bennet, NE 6, 25, 21
Today we run down to Bennet, Nebraska to take a look at a train derailment that occured earlier this afternoon on 6, 25, 21. Another loaded OMAX coal train was heading down to the OPPD plant in Nebraska City. 13 miles into the journey, multiple coal hoppers derailed and crunched up against each other, leaving quite the mess for BNSF to clean up. The derailment occurred right at milepost 47 on the Arbor Line, a line that the coal plant themselves own, and has also been dormant for 17 years until this January when BNSF started hauling coal to OPPD again. We ve had very heavy rain over the last couple days, so I d imagine this helped contribute to the train derailment. OPPD is low on coal so let s hope they get trains running again very soon Thanks for watching If you like what you see, be sure to check out my other social media pages Instagram: Facebook: Railroad Picture Archives:
