JFRD responds to a house fire with hidden fire
Jacksonville Fire Rescue department responded to a two story attached duplex with smoke showing upon arrival. Interior crews quickly realized by the lack of smoke inside that the fire was concealed in the walls and attic. With reports of people inside, L62 dealt with a bed ridden patient followed quickly by another resident who refused to leave the building. Efforts were concentrated on saving lives and getting the residents out to safety before getting upstairs to open walls and pull ceiling. The fire advanced fast enough that command had to order crews out of the structure due to high heat and failing trusses. The attic space was well protected by a fire wall and the adjoining house was spared heavy fire damage although water and smoke were an issue. Follow along with the sights and sounds from the scene.
