RUSSIA: CHECHNYA: PRISONERS EXCHANGED

Natural Sound Russian and Chechen commanders have succeeded in brokering a prisoner exchange. The exchange of 34 Russians and 48 mostly civilian Chechens, took place today, (Thursday) 40 kilometres (25 miles) east of Grozny at the Chechen, Dagestan border. Following an afternoon of circumspection and suspicion, Russian and Chechen commanders succeeded in brokering a prisoner exchange. Originally intended to take place on a bridge that spans the ChechenDagestan border at midday today, (Thur
