Bio By She Rox All Female Bands: The Bangles, began in the early 1980 s by the Peterson sisters who met Susanna Hoffs through a local newspaper ad, the trio who shared a love for the music on the 1960 s soon added bassist Annette Zalinkas and began playing the Los Angeles club circuit and soon became a solid local act in the Paisley Underground, an early genre of alternative rock, based primarily in Los Angeles, California of garage rock 60 s influenced bands, who where emerging quickly, however any all female bands were still sparse other then the Pandoras. The Bangs, as they were known originally, were forced to change the name due to another band already called the Bangs, released several singles before gaining the attention of I. R. S Records, and released their self titled Ep in 1982, bassist Annette would leave the band, and original Runaways bassist and lead vocalist Michael Mickie Steele was brought in as her replacement.
