Air tight vs. Vacuum tight
When I m not making YouTube videos, I m growing crystals in a Molecular Beam Epitaxy vacuum chamber held about 12 orders of magnitude below atmospheric pressure. This is the first in what I m hoping will be a series of videos featuring the MBE chamber, and this time I m talking about leaks: how to find the tiniest leaks in the most sensitive systems, and how an MBE can be considered basically a perfect pressure vessel with no air leaking in or out at any time. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions about the MBE I could address in future videos Check out the other social media for updates and ramblings: , Vacuum, Materials, Engineering The MBE Lab is part of the Materials Department at UCSB.
