The White Army was a common collective name for the armed formations of the White movement and antiSoviet governments during the Civil War in Russia. They fought against the Red Army of the Bolsheviks. The White armies comprised a number of different groups, who operated independently and did not share a single ideology or political goal. After several crushing defeats at the hands of the resurgent Red Army, the Eastern front largely collapsed, and dissolved by November 1919.
