Beautiful DIY Japanese Old House Renovation With Reclaimed Materials, 5 Year Transformation
This is the story of a Japanese old house DIY renovation using recycled materials and traditional techniques. The house, a kominka, was in a terrible state when Rupert and his wife bought the property five years ago. But the couple saw the potential of the traditional farmhouse located in a quiet Japanese village in Southern Japan and decided to fix up the house. Over the course of five years, they have beautifully renovated the house which incredibly only cost them 8000 at the time of purchase As with the previous episodes (on growing rice, food and tea naturally), the house is a great metaphor for a life philosophy that s all about finding happiness in simplicity, discovering abundance in the everyday, and embracing the past. The photos scattered throughout the video have all been taken by Rupert himself. Absolutely incredible stuff He s worked as a professional photographer for many years and still does occasional assignments. You can follow him on instagram (ruper
