After more than a dozen years pursuing and many times almost producing a passion project, the feature film EVERYBODY SAYS GOODBYEThe Story of a Father and Son, I had to shut it down because its failure was affecting me in too many destructive ways. Broke and downandout, I needed to make an attempt to salvage something from that experience. I wrote HOT CAR as a snippet that was background in EVERYBODY SAYS GOODBYE. HOT CAR was created out of nothing; I had no money, a home I could borrow, and some friends. I needed a story that could be shot with no budget, in one location, with only one other actor, and in only one day.
