Chinese Plate Spinners (1959)
Murray s Cabaret Club, London. Ivan Benjamin and a young lady are seated at a restaurant table, a waiter enters with plate of food for them. There is a bottle of champagne on the table, and she is smoking. The waiter has gold epaulettes. C, U of plates of food, steak with vegetables, and a lamb chop with vegetables and roast potatoes. C, U of Chinese fruit bowls being picked up. M, S showing a Chinese girl in short red embroidered kimono style costume, balancing bowls on her head. She lifts her leg right up to her head, and then she does the splits. Still with the bowls on her head, she carefully does a handstand and lowers her feet over and down so that they appear on either side of her face. The audience of diners applaud. The two girls then bring forward a small pedestal, and bring bamboo sticks and plates to begin twirling plates. One girl begins her routine with two spinning plates, and puts her head on the small pedestal, and does a head stand, still holding two spinning plates on sticks. She
