Babe Styx 1979
The power ballad Babe, by rock band Styx from Chicago, was the lead single from their triple platinum Cornerstone album. The song became a major hit reaching, 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was their only major UK hit single reaching, 6, and hit the, 1 spot on the Canadian RPM national singles chart. The song originally was a demo written by the then lead vocal Dennis DeYoung to his wife as he was preparing to leave on a tour. Though not intended to be on the Cornerstone album, the demo was added as a track with the overdubbing of the guitar solo in the song s middle section. Though Styx has performed at sold out venues in the late 70 s and early 80 s, and is the only group in R R history to have four consecutive platinum albums in a row, have not been inducted into the Rock Roll Hall of Fame at this time. They have been inducted into the Ultimate Classic Rock Hall of Fame.
