UPDATE: On March 14, 2018, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, Inc. with an elaborate fraud, saying she and Theranos s expresident had lied for years about the company s technology, and fooled investors into giving Theranos hundreds of millions of dollars. As part of her settlement with the SEC, Holmes will pay a penalty of 500, 000, must relinquish majority control of her company, and can not lead a public company for a period of 10 years.
