M. Sarliss Art Masterpieces. The pioneer Buddhist revivalist painter of Sri Lanka
M. Sarlis was the pioneer buddhist revivalist painter of Sri Lanka in the early 20th century. His paintings adorned all Buddhist homes. He was a famous temple painter as well as commercial portrait artist. He also introduced lighting made Wesak pandals famous by making them grander in appearance. Earlier they were vey basic made of a few logs. His star pupil was G. S. Fernando the famous water colour master of Sri Lanka. His son Susil Premaratne went on to become famous in both the art music arenas of Sri Lanka.
