For years he has competed in rodeos and has done stunt work in such movies as Little Big Man, True Grit, and Towering Inferno, and in such television programs as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Starsky Hutch, and Emergency. In 1972 he won the Stunt Man of the Year Award. Cody Bearpaw has also become well known as a songwriter and musician with a hit song Happy People and appearances at the Grand Ol Opry.
