How to effectively use Light to turn a Snapshot into a Photograph
When people start with photography on a more serious level, the process of understanding what makes a photograph more than just another snapshot is really difficult. One of the reasons is that they are bombarded with very advanced explanations of what light and a variety of other factors are and how to use them. This is on top of the person needing to figure out camera settings and basic editing to just mention a few. In this video, we attempt to make it simple by deconstructing the behaviour of light as seen by a camera, into its most basic form. Forthcoming videos will deal with the space inside photos (composition), further aspects of light and storytelling techniques. Through personal experience, I found that most online help shoots far above the head of most people instruction is given in a complicated way and at such a high intensity that it leaves more bewilderment than growth. This is one of the reasons that all examples we use are imperfect, the images showing actual everyday problems.
