Two little boys look in shop window; the shop is full of model theatres made from paper kits. Various shots of two elderly women painting characters and sets of paper theatres. We see them cutting out the paper doll actors. The actors are attached to sticks so them can be moved about on the model theatre stages. Various shots of the women demonstrating how the theatres work; the curtain lifts and the paper actors come on stage. The theatres are beautifully decorated with lots of detail.
