LIVE: Merkel addresses Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

German Chancellor Angela Merkel takes part in the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The event will be held in a hybrid format on Tuesday, April 20. The assembly, which has been meeting since 1949, is made up of 642 representatives of the political forces of the 47 member countries. The body is dedicated to upholding human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Among the topics expected to be discussed in this edition of the event are the arrest and detention of Alexey Navalny, political developments in Turkey and Belarus as well as the implications of the proposed introduction of Covid passports.
