The Asylum, Dok rak (2015) dir. Prapat Jiwarangsan
Thai artist Prapat Jiwarangsans The Asylum deals with the feeling of belonging. A pond becomes an utopian sanctuary for a refugee boy from Myanmar and a genial radio DJ who lost her job when all Red Shirt radio stations were closed after the 2014 coup detat. We continue our collaboration with Asian cinema magazine NANG, with the short The Asylum, another film explored in their new issue. A completely mysterious, experiential immersion into a landscape, proving that sometimes cinema can be as calming as the natural world itself.
