As this video shows that kite will soar above the ground and upon seeing their quarry will hover their rapidly beating wings some distance above the rodent before dropping down to snag them. It is quite an amazing site to see. The whitetailed kite was considered endangered before recently making a wonderful recovery in many areas across the Americas. It is most common along the California and Texas coasts though it appears it is expanding into new areas which is great.
