Hong Kong MPs defy China during swearing in ceremony

Hong Kong s new parliament has opened to chaotic scenes after newlyelected prodemocracy politicians mocked the swearingin process and ripped up their oaths. The MPs declared loyalties to the semiautonomous territory instead of mainland China and called out for democratic selfdetermination during the oathtaking session on Wednesday.
