Delaying Ice, Frost Formation Using Phase Switching Liquids
Researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Engineering describe for the first time in the journal Advanced Materials several unique properties of materials known as phaseswitching liquids, or PSLs, that hold promise as nextgeneration antiicing materials. PSLs can delay ice and frost formation up to 300 times longer than stateoftheart coatings being developed in laboratories. Their findings are published in the journal Advanced Materials.
