Lake Superior: Ice in Motion A thin sheet of ice over Lake Superior piles up on shore at daybreak. As far as my eyes could see, the massive sheet of ice was slowly gliding along the shore like a big conveyor belt, powered by the morning breeze. It stacked thousands of plateglasslike shards of ice as it hit the rocky shoreline. The plates of ice appeared to be gilded as they caught the rising sun, and the stack ice quickly accumulated along the rugged shoreline. Watching the seemingly endless ice come
