Boy Cooks. Part of THE YOUNG IDEA issue. Somewhere in northern England. At a north country school, we see a group of schoolboys walking out into the playground and putting on white aprons and hats. They have their hands inspected for cleanliness by a man, then file into the cookhouse for their cookery lesson and watch a woman grating something. Several shots of the boys grating, peeling, chopping food, and putting pastry covers over pie and pudding fillings. A boy takes a cooked pie out of the oven. The boys all sit at a long table and have to eat their own pies. Cheekylooking boy winks as he eats seems to be enjoying his Short sequence shows the boys mending and ironing their own clothes and darning socks.
