Ally McCoist scored in the first minute and completed his hattrick within the next eighteen minutes. Alania threatened a comeback by making the score 32, but after Peter van Vossen added another goal just before halftime, Rangers controlled the game. In the second half, Brian Laudrup scored twice and Charlie Miller completed the scoring in the final minutes.
