LS Sir Thomas Dugdale, Minister of Agriculture, with party walking along country lane, stops and speaks: Many of you will be in the country during the coming weeks will you please take extra care to keep to the footpaths, avoid livestock and above all keep away, stay away from land if a notice is put up asking you to keep away because of foot and mouth disease. I have a special message for farmers we cannot stamp out the disease unless you report any symptoms of it at once. Nearly all farmers have cooperated magnificently but there have been one of two cases where unfortunately owing to late reports serious developments have taken place. Please do watch your stock carefully during these coming weeks and tell the police at once if you notice any suspicious symptoms either signs of lameness or of sore mouths. You can hel
