Bed Post Sculptor (1959)
Lodden, Norfolk. Alfred Betts works with scrap wood. M, S of a heap of scrap wood pieces and Alfred picking one out. He takes it inside and sits down to work on carving it. He has a row of woodworking tools. He starts to carve a head shape, working with a chisel. C, U shot of him chipping away at a weird comic looking face. He fixes eyes, which are white painted into the head. M, S of three finished heads, which look like cartoon characters or caricatures. There are various shots of different heads, one laughing. Hands appear and turn one head to show a face on the other side. The wood for the head Alfred is seen working on, was once a mahogany bedpost. This is hobby for Mr Betts, who is a teacher.
