Welcome to MUSIC CIRCLE Hiromi Uehara(上原 ひろみ, born 26 March 1979), known professionally asHiromi, is ajazzcomposer and pianist born inHamamatsu, Japan. She is known for her virtuosic technique, energetic live performances and blend of musical genres such asstride, postbop, progressive rock, classicalandfusionin her compositions. Hiromi started learningclassicalpiano at the age of six, and was later introduced tojazzby her piano teacher Noriko Hikida. At 14, she played with theCzech Philharmonic Orchestra. When she was 17, she metChick Coreaby chance inTokyoand was invited to play with him at his concert the next day. After being ajinglewriter for a few years for Japanese companies such asNissan, she enrolled to study atBerklee College of MusicinBoston, Massachusetts. There, she was mentored byAhmad Jamaland had already signed with jazz labelTelarcbefore her graduation.
