My 31th MV. thank for watching The Kriegsmarine wolfpack Hecht discovered and attacked the Allied convoy ON92 heading west across the Atlantic on May 11th, 1942 sinking 7 ships. U569 makes contact on the 11th and leads U94 and U124 to the convoy. The boats attack in the night and U124 sinks 4 ships in 2 approaches, U94 sinks 1 and U569 gets a hit on a ship. The next night the other Uboats reach the convoy but only U94 is successful, sinking 2 ships in 2 approaches. U406 misses an escort due to torpedo failure. Then contact is lost in bad weather. The USS Destroyer Gleaves and USCGC Ingham are part of the escort along with the British rescue vessel Bury. Bury is the only ship equipped with a HF, DF unit.
