Ils étaient trois garçons (There were three lads ) is a song we used to sing when I was a boy scout (I used to strum along with the guitar). Same with File la laine ( Spin the wool ). Il est né le divin enfant ( He is born the divine child ) is the most popular Christmas carol in France. A la claire Fontaine (At the clear Fountain ) is very short but a jewel of a melody. Colchiques dans les Prés (Colchicums in the fields ) is a haunting melody we sung as scouts. George Brassens, a well known song writter composed the music of Le petit Cheval blanc ( The little white Horse ). The words are by the French poet Paul
