Monette Trumpet Linda Briceño from Venezuela

On my visit to Jazz at Lincoln Center last weekend Wynton told me I needed to hear this young woman from Venezuela who would be playing with the band for a tune. Wynton had just met her the day before, and he immediately invited her to sit in for the concert. She wanted to try a Monette trumpet when we met, and the only horn I had on the trip was the big RAJA for Terence that I did not want to leave in the hotel room. So knowing Terence s passion for teaching and mentoring students, I let her blow a couple notes on the first time on a Monette mouthpiece or a Monette instrument. Talk about starting out with the best Then we went to Wynton s office and he had her try his horn, a lighter RAJA III.
