The bait screw tool
Buying bait screws is a bit hit and miss so I tend to make my own and for that I use a pretty basic tool made out of some s, steel tube and some offcuts of wood. While bait screws are used in lots of different ways for things like attaching spinner blades to soft plastics or even as hook keepers, I use them most often for rigging larger soft plastic paddle tail fishing lures for pike fishing. This set up tends to work best in shallow water but spike weights can be added to get a little more depth or add some stability. The main advantage of this is you don t get the sudden vertical dive that comes with using jig heads and the lures tend to be a bit more unpredictable which in pike fishing terms is probably a good thing.
